Girls Trip Hit Big in the Box Office
Girls Trip was an inspirational, empowering, and uplifting film about four college friends who reunite at Essence Festival in New Orleans. Setting a box office record at $30.4 million opening weekend, the film is the best comedy this year, thus far. Casting included Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Regina Hall, and Tiffany Haddish. Larenz Tate and Kofi Siriboe were also some nice eye candy throughout the film, trust me!
Regina Hall, who plays Ryan Stewart, is a successful self-help author whose marriage to a professional athlete is not all happy. Jada Pinkett-Smith as Lisa is a single mother attempting to "get her groove back" and Tiffany Haddish as Dina is the friend with no filter. Sasha, who is played by Queen Latifah runs a gossip site which places a strain on her friendship with Ryan. One thing about best friends, you cannot hide your true emotions. These besties came together and placed a new meaning of "Girl Power"! Women from all over were able to relate to many aspects of the film and take back golden nuggets.
Girls Trip delivered exactly what the audience was looking for in a comedy. Women from all over grabbed their best girlfriends and were able to laugh and cry together in this astounding film.
